FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Below are answers to common questions regarding my classes at Maryland Hall. If you cannot find your answer, feel free to contact me below.

Who can I contact if I have difficulty registering?

Although I can answer any questions regarding the content of the class, please direct questions regarding payment or registration to education@marylandhall.org

Can my child's sibling join a class if they are outside the age range?

YES,  if their sibling is 4+ and within two years of the classes age range. Please register both children for the class or camp.

Where do classes meet?

My classes are generally held in 117B on the ground floor of Maryland Hall, across from the pottery studios. If necessary, changes in classroom will be noted in your class description, welcome email, and posted on the door of 117B.

What should my child bring?

  • Unless the class description specifies otherwise, all art materials are provided.

  • Students should wear art-friendly clothes that can get messy. Smocks are available upon student request and their use is encouraged, but never required.

  • Students may find it helpful to bring a sketchbook if they keep one, and visual references (printed images or books they are interested in drawing from).

  • Middle School students (Artful Minds classes) are invited to bring headphones for music, and screen use is permitted for visual references only.

Are make up classes provided?

What happens if class is cancelled?

Make up classes are not guaranteed when a student misses class. However, when possible I try to work with families to schedule make up time before or after class to catch up on missed work. Please email me if this is necessary for your child.

In the event of inclement weather or teacher illness, make up classes are generally scheduled for the week following the last scheduled day of class. Please reserve this day as a make up date.

Can classes be prorated?

Classes cannot be prorated before they begin; subject to availability.

2D visual arts classes can be prorated if at least two sessions remain.

Clay classes should only be prorated if at least three sessions remain.

Prorated students are not provided with make up sessions.
